A genuine Venetian home in a third-floor flat overlooking the well-known Strada Nova. We are at a 10-minute walk from Santa Lucia train station, and very close to water bus stop S. Marcuola. The apartment is composed of a living area – comprising a roomy entrance, a cosy kitchen, two bathrooms, and a good-sized lounge / dining room leading to a wonderful terrace – as well as of a sleeping area with three bedrooms…

*fondaménta - feminine noun [from Latin fundamenta, plural neutral; also see fondamento] (pl. -e). – English translation: foundations. In Venice, it is the name of the streets running along a canal at the basis of a building.

Fondamenta

Overlooking the historic Teatro Italia on the Strada Nova, for many years FONDAMENTA (18 m2 – 194 sq ft) hosted Mrs. and Mr. Negrisolo. It is now a spacious double bedroom to which optionally annex our studio-lounge RIO.

*rio masculine noun [from Latin rīvus; also see rivo]. In Venetian dialect, a rio (sometimes rièllo) is a stretch of the urban canal network, out of which Venice’s legendary built islets emerge.

Rio

RIO (12 m2 – 130 sq ft) was the room where Grandma Giuliana and her daughters used to study. Today, its vocation is preserved, being a studio-lounge that at night can be turned into a bedroom.

*scónta, feminine adjective, from nascósto [past participle of nascondere, to hide]. Not visible, removed from sight. In Venetian dialect, used to talk about a hidden calle (street) or rio (canal), far from most of the people passing by.

Sconta

SCONTA (30 m2 – 323 sq ft) is a room in another room, i.e., two connecting bedrooms that can jointly accommodate several people, providing them with a private studio and lounge while enjoying the peace of the minor streets of Venice.
